Product Manufacturing Engineer
Onsite, based in Seattle

RPI, a global leader in print-on demand, is currently seeking a Product Manufacturing Engineer to drive manufacturing improvements and assure consistency across all locations through product implementations, process improvement, quality assurance methods, and manufacturing standards management.

As the Product Manufacturing Engineer for RPI North America, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of product designs, specifications, and technical implementations. You will optimize manufacturing technology, processes, materials, and equipment while incorporating quality assurance methodologies to achieve high-quality product output.

Additionally, you will provide support and guidance for RPI products produced at contract manufacturers within our PrInternet Network. Your role will involve promoting and managing operational standards, color management, pricing/cost standards, productivity metrics, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

Aspirational Goals:

  • Drive product engineering improvements towards a more manufacturing engineering-oriented model.
  • Implement streamlined methods for New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Establish a standardized sales samples process and associated library for reference.
  • Develop a global pre-press structure and transition strategy for enhanced efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Enhance efficiency in developing product specifications and establish control audit processes.
  • Document process standards and conduct regular audits for compliance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop improved processes for product implementation, pre-press activities, and production operations.
  • Review proposed project scopes and provide input to optimize manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain an accurate specifications database for all products/parts and ensure documentation of materials testing, pre-press changes, and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with the production team to improve flow, yield, and equipment effectiveness.
  • Package new product production methods and instructions for launch in other sites.
  • Value engineer products to improve margins, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
  • Serve as a color management expert to ensure ongoing improvements.
  • Assist in equipment selection, purchase, and implementation, and develop relationships with equipment suppliers.
  • Identify automation opportunities and ensure resources for successful commissioning.
  • Capture training needs and develop work instructions to enhance operational efficiency.


Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, print technology, industrial or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of factory floor experience, specifically in production operations within a print environment.
  • Proficiency with print-related software tools and manufacturing workflow development.
  • Experience in practical application of color management in printing processes.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, execution and monitoring.
  • Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Experience in ISO or other document-managed QMS environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance methodologies, Lean Manufacturing Principles, and Statistical Analysis is a plus
  • Strong mechanical engineering skills and ability to evaluate machinery a plus.
