The Material Handler I works as part of the material handling team in organizing and supporting the effective flow of materials into and through the production facility. They work collaboratively with the rest of the production and administrative staff in delivering to our customers the highest level of product quality and service.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Receive, verify and inventory materials from suppliers in a timely manner
  • Stock materials for manufacturing in a timely manner per the following
  • Accurately perform daily cycle counts
  • Record all material movements and counts in ERP system, including receiving, transfers and quantity adjustments
  • Maintain the physical organization and labeling of materials in warehouse and manufacturing locations
  • Operate company material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts per OSHA and manufacturer standards
  • Perform material movements in ERP system
  • Perform required maintenance checks and maintenance log updates for powered material handling equipment
  • Maintain a clean working environment in the warehouse spaces and vehicles
  • Exchange full recycling bins in manufacturing with empties.
  • The employee is responsible for working in a safe manner and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Other duties and tasks as needed or assigned, including assisting with manufacturing tasks


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong personal and job organizational work habits
  • High attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel)
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including holidays, weekends and overtime as required

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a materials management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment including inventory tracking and cycle counting.
  • Warehouse/material handling and inventory control systems
  • Forklift certification (training and certification to be provided by RPI if needed)

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Work at heights on a ladder or scissor lift
  • Ability to operate powered material handling equipment
  • Work within a moderately loud environment
  • Work within varying environmental temperatures from hot to cold
  • Able to grasp, reach, stoopAbility to lift 50 lbs.
